dearest Dactyl

This morning's post is dedicated to my friend, Kristy "Dactyl" Jackson. (Honestly, I can't really call her anything but "Dactyl"... and she says she's considering changing it legally!)

I met this lovely lady in 2006, but it seems as though we've known each other a lot longer than that. She grew up in Fort Atkinson, WI-- which is just a stones-throw from my hometown.

If I could only pick one word to describe Dactyl, the word would be ENTHUSIASTIC.
Other words would be: intelligent, gifted, brilliant, inquisitive, curious, spontaneous, fun, silly, thoughtful, genuine, natural, supportive, determined and strong.

Without her, I don't think I would have begun playing kickball in Madison, and she really nurtured my natural need for Scrabble, trivia, 4-square, delicious beers, gallery nights, dinner parties, BIKE RIDES and skinny-dipping.

Dactyl is nearing the end of a three-week trip to Denmark for her masters program-- I've never met anyone so dedicated to and excited about transportation and urban planning. I know she is going to continue to change the world.

Read about Dactyl's adventures in Denmark here.
