This weekend was the loooong awaited, 2nd annual canoeing/camping trip, produced by The RaccoonBear City (Don and his household). It was FUN!
We departed from Sauk City, WI around 10 AM on Saturday, and were picked up and bussed back on Sunday evening. We spent two full days paddling up the Wisconsin River, stopping to connect the boats and relax, drinking whiskey, telling stories, swimming, and snacking!
Some highlights include:
- The nude beach near Mazomanie. We lunched on a sandbar across from the most populated part of the beach, and some of us (yours truly included) were inspired to doff our suits and swim in the buff. It was awesome!
- Comparing sunburns. Even with repeated application, most of us managed to singe some random parts of our bodies. Nothing too horrible, and it was worth it.
- The river! It was beautiful! Rock formations, bluffs, trees, bald eagles (!!!), geese, tons of turtles... It was lovely all around.
I wish we could have stayed out for a whole week, but judging by how sore we were on Sunday night, I'm not sure we would have made it!
