Here's a choice quote from my essay professor, in response to an email I sent after I missed class yesterday:
"'Make up the participation points'--oh, I had a good laugh over that one, Alisha. You could not say a single word for the rest of the semester and you'd still be golden on participation, so don't worry about it!"
